Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant had recently denied rumors that he will leave OKC for another squad when he becomes a free agent this summer if the team will not reach the Finals during this year's NBA playoffs.

Speculations began when New Orleans Pelicans reporter Joel Meyers said in a radio interview that Durant will exit the Thunder if they do not "get to the NBA Finals" this postseason.

However, the 2014 NBA MVP was quick to refute the rumors, saying that "it doesn't make sense" to put your own team and teammates to such an immense pressure to win. Durant stressed that "they don't deserve that" and that he has never said or thought anything like that.

"Like I said, I can't control rumors from people who sit behind their desk every day and think of stuff to say," said Durant, as reported by ESPN. "I'm worrying about coming out here every day and staying healthy and trying to battle against the best players in the world while rumors are getting written up about whatever, and I have no control over it."

"That's their job, and my job is to play ball. So I never said that," he added.

The 27-year-old seven-time All-Star is in the final year of his five-year, $89.2 million contract with the Thunder, which will make him an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

Durant had been mum about his free-agency plans this summer. He has not given hints of possibly jumping ship and he has not made it clear that he will stay with the Thunder either and that led to a lot of speculations regarding his future in Oklahoma City.

"If it didn't come from me or anyone I know, like I said in the summer time, I don't know where it came from," he told the Oklahoman's Anthony Slater, as per CBS Sports. "Everybody makes up rumors around this time of year and everyone wants clicks for their stories, so that's a part of it. I have nothing to do with that. I can't control it. I'm just focused on playing better each and every day."
