The production is said to boast numerous executive producers who would be working with Martin Scorsese and Lehane, which include 'Titanic' star Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Fischer, Mike Medavoy, Chris Donelly, Arnie Messer and many more.
'Ashecliffe' is purportedly the prequel to the film 'Shutter Island'. The new TV drama that would be produced by HBO and Paramount Television will show the history of the hospital for the criminally insane which the story revolves around, including the anomalous deeds of the institution's founders.
The story would revolve around Ashecliffe which is an asylum for the criminally insane. In the drama, two federal marshals will play the lead with one of the characters being portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio. The actor's character would be investigating the disappearance of a woman who was considered a murderer. The woman is said to have escaped the hospital confines and is said to be lurking just around the vicinity.
In the past, Martin Scorsese has already worked with HBO for the hit TV series 'Boardwalk Empire' which will be airing its last season on September 7. Further reports say that the producer-director will be working with HBO again for a series that is about the 1970s rock music scene.
On the other hand, the writer of 'Shutter Island', Dennis Lehane, has already made his debut as a screenwriter after he wrote for 'The Drop' which will be released next month.
