Crazy in Love superstar Beyonce Knowles has roused the ire of Mic.com reporter Jenny Kutner over a statement that motherhood is, by far, her greatest accomplishment. In an interview session with fashion and art-based magazine Garage, the 34-year old singing sensation and 20-time Grammy award winner said that out of all the things she has accomplished in life, her proudest moment was giving birth to daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

Beyonce shares her daughter with husband, businessman-musician Jay-Z. Blue was born on Jan. 7, 2012. At four years old, Beyonce considers Blue her most precious acheivement. However, some fans and haters alike, do not agree with her assertion.

Kutner writes that although Queen Bey is entitled to her own feelings and opinions, she may be affecting the way women are supposed to regard their personal and business achievements. She further adds that giving hierarchy to women's achievement the way Beyonce did may influence other people's priorities in life.

This is not the first time a popular female celebrity has said that motherhood is her life's greatest achievement. Big names in the fashion and music industries, politics, and show business such as Elle Mcpherson, Victoria Beckham, and Hillary Clinton have also accounted for motherhood as their most satisfying role in life.

Kutner encouraged women to give motherhood and career equal importance. She said that she wishes to hear women say that while they feel accomplished being great moms to their children, their career also gives them the sense of accomplishment.

Writer Valerie Williams from scarymommy.com has, however, come to Beyonce's rescue saying that it is such a profound wisdom to consider motherhood on top of fame. Williams further adds that choosing motherhood over one's career does not necessarily equate to not promoting feminism and equality.
