Singer/actress Selena Gomez is now Instagram's most followed individual. Wearing a New York Yankees-inspired outfit, Gomez shared the good news with her fans via Snapchat on Saturday. In the short video clip, the Grand Prairie-born singer thanked her fans and followers as she is now "officially the number one most followed" person on the photo and video sharing social media site.

Gomez, 23, has now more than 69.5 million people watching her on Instagram. She is followed by her good friend Taylor Smith, who has about 69.2 million followers. Gomez said, however, that she is not competing with her best friend Swift in anyway.

In fact, according to Mail Online, Gomez has admitted that she would be thrilled to do a collaborative work with Swift. She praised her bestie's talents in both singing and song writing, adding that the opportunity for them to work together has always been there. 

Following the lead, the Kardashian-Jenner sisters are not far below on the list of Instagram's most followed people. Kim Kardashian has 63.7 million followers, while sister Kylie Jenner carries 54.3 million fans watching her updates.

Although Gomez may not find it cute to be competing with BFF Swift, fans get the feeling that outnumbering her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber may be a different story. With a 70.9 million lead and still growing by the day, Gomez is way above her ex who has 61.6 million Instagram Beliebers.

Gomez's rising popularity has been credited to the evolvement in her choice of fashion, songs, and videos. Gomez surprised her fans and the world with her sexy ensemble during the fashion week in Paris recently.

The sexy outfit might have been one of the reasons why a fan was not able to help himself from kissing Gomez at a London tube station over the weekend.
