Following his announcement that he is leaving car racing behind to focus on his family and acting career, some might have been asking if Patrick Dempsey is finally reuniting with Ellen Pompeo in "Grey's Anatomy" season 12.

Will the 50-year-old actor finally re-appear via a flashback in the ABC medical series after his chacter was killed off last year?

It can be recalled that the "Enchanted" actor used to play the role of Dr. Derek Shepherd, the neurosurgeon husband of Dr. Meredith Grey, portrayed by the 46-year-old actress.

In a report by MotorSport.com, it was learned that Patrick Dempsey has already decided to give his attention to his wife Jillian Fink, who is a known friend of Ellen Pompeo, as well as to his children and career.

"My motorsports journey has been a rewarding one and allowed me to meet so many interesting people," he shared. "While the focus so often is the performance of the car, in reality it is all the various personalities, from team mates to competitors to officials to fans that I remember the most."

However, it was pointed out that amid his decision to bid farewell to the sports which he had been a part of for so many years, his team will stay.

"Dempsey-Proton Racing will continue on racing a Porsche 911 RSR in the World Endurance Championship season," he dished. "I hope my schedule permits me to enjoy some race weekends at least as a team owner."

In the meantime, Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey still does not have a new love interest in "Grey's Anatomy" despite the death of Patrick Dempsey's McDreamy.

When Giacomo Gianniotti was recently added to the cast, some thought that he would already be the guy to replace Meredith's late husband. Yet, Andrew DeLuca (his role) was actually paired to Maggie (Kelly McCreary).
