The Changbai Mountain's lovely white slopes should be utilized to boost tourism in the area, two political advisors said during the annual two sessions.
The Changbai Mountain range in Northeast China borders China and North Korea. Jilin province, in particular, is set to be the future home of a new world-class ski resort.

"The mountain is basically covered with snow for about half the time throughout the year. We're trying to turn that quality snow into silver, said Xie Zhongyan, secretary of the Party Working Committee of Changbai Mountain Protection and Development Zone.
Provinces in northeast China - Liaoning, Heilongjiang, and Jilin - had the lowest GDP growth out of the country's 31 provinces in 2014.
"Tapping into the natural resources will be a huge boost to local tourism and definitely a green and sustainable way of rejuvenating the northeast economy," said Xie.
Xie said that the ski resort, if approved, will have more than 40 ski tracks for a total of 140 kilometers that will connect other existing resorts in the area. The resort will have international standards as it is seen as a possible training ground for the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
"Winter sports will largely stimulate the tourism growth. We hope that the Chinese government will approve our suggestions and support the infrastructure construction including winte sports facilities," said Bayinchaolu, Jilin's party chief.
An initial investment of ¥9 billion ($1.3 billion) will be allocated for the ski resort, and another ¥20 billion ($3 billion) during the second phase of construction. It is scheduled to be completed after three years of its start date.
Jilin is the third most visited by skiing enthusiasts right after Beijing and neighbor Heilongjiang.
