The newest drama of Hong Kong's TVB channel, "The Last Healer in Forbidden City," was recently given an official premiere date.

The period drama stars Roger Kwok, Tavia Yeung, Ngo Ka-nin, and Law Lan. The Last Healer in Forbidden City tells the story of a physician who works at the Imperial Palace during the last few years of the Qing Dynasty.

It is known that the new series has had its fair share of production problems. Asian Pop News reported last on rumors of Yeung refusing to renew her contract and star in the show.

JayneStars reported earlier this year that there were talks of shelving the drama due to the network's low viewership ratings, along with four other dramas in its 2016 broadcast lineup.

Several weeks after the report, the channel launched its video streaming platform called MyTV Super. It was reported that The Last Healer in Forbidden City will be exclusively streamed on the platform.

However, the rumors were finally put to rest after TVB confirmed that the drama would get the primetime slot, replacing the comedy drama "Short End of the Stick."

The upcoming drama is going to be JJ Jia's first show on TVB since "Always and Ever," which ended in 2013, and the last for Nelson Cheung. Furthermore, if rumors about Yeung becoming hesitant to renew her contract are true, then it could also potentially be her last TVB show.

"The Last Healer in Forbidden City" is produced by Cheung and will have 20 episodes.
