"Artificial intelligence will understand senses, such as vision and feeling, better than human beings," he said. "Its application in daily lives such as autonomous driving will improve the world."

The Facebook executive however told his audience at the China-organized forum  that it will take a few more years before artificial will be widely used.

"Computers do not sleep. They can always maintain their focus,"  he continued. "These features enable AI to better control cars than human beings."

Zuckerberg believes that AI will be a boon to the world economy, as he anticipates that the technology will become the most important computing platform in the next five to 10 years.

"There is a trend toward a more immersive and natural tool which can allow people better experience themselves and the world," he pointed out. "And I believe that is virtual reality."

After sharing his thoughts on artificial intelligence at the China-sponsored forum, Zuckerberg met with Central Government's propaganda chief to explain how the Internet can help foster greater connectivity among people across the globe, reported the Guardian.

During the meeting, Liu Yunshan asked Zuckerberg to share lessons from Facebook's experiences that will enable Chinese companies to help "internet development better benefit the people of all countries."

China has proposed the creation of a global internet "governance system" and cooperation between countries that aims to regulate internet use in the country.

Zuckerberg's efforts to promote artificial intelligence and internet use in China are expected to make an impact on the nation which currently has 668 Internet users.
