Gordon Chan to Remake ‘Legend of the Condor Heroes’

Hong Kong director Gordon Chan, who has been successful with the production of his 2008 fantasy movie 'Painted Skin', is planning to make other high-budget projects including a remake of the of 'Legend of the Condor Heroes'.

Gordon Chan has also filmed several productions including two installments of the 'The Four' and 'Mural'. However, the films were not received by the public fervently. Still, the three movies were able to become box office hits in China during their releases.

Gordon Chan is said to have just finished the production for the third part of his 'The Four' series which would be the last installment. According to media reports 'The Four 3' will be followed by a film adaptation of 'Legend of the Condor Heroes'.

Chinese media reports say that the director has immediately taken the project when news that Enlight Picture had copyrights for the novel reached him. Other reports say that the company has already planned to make the new adaptation into a trilogy.

Additionally, a list of actors has already been said to be in negotiations to star in the new film. It included Crystal Liu, Ada Liu, Deng Chao, Betty Sun and others. It hasn't been confirmed yet, however, the company has already stated that Gordon Chan has already taken the project and is in the process of being written.

'Legend of the Condor Heroes' is originally a novel written by renowned novelist Jin Yong. The novel has been made into a drama by TVB in 1983. The first screen adaptation of the novel features Felix Wong, Barbara Yung and Michael Miu.

In 2003, China has also made their own version of the drama, putting Li Yapeng and Zhou Xun in the spotlight. It had been a rather well-received adaptation.

Furthermore, Gordon Chan is said to be preparing for another project which, according to sources, will revolve around a romance story set in Beijing.
