Australian Senator Jacqui Lambie said Wednesday she will not apologize to China for saying its government plans to take over her country. She remains adamant even if her Palmer United Party leader Clive Palmer already has apologized for his accusations against China, reports said.

The outspoken senator warned Australia to augment its military size as preparation for an invasion by the Chinese communist government.

Beefing up the military was key to stoping "our grandchildren from becoming slaves to an aggressive, anti-democratic totalitarian foreign power," Lambie said.

The comment seemed to support Palmer's earlier statement against the Chinese government.

In what appeared to be an outburst against the communist country on TV, Palmer accused the Chinese government of trying to take over Australia. He further rubbed in the insult by calling them "mongrels and bastards" who would shoot their own citizens.

Criticisms were thrown at the billionaire for his "absurd" rant. Days later, he apologized.

Palmer wrote a letter of apology to Chinese ambassador Ma Zhaoxu. "I regret any hurt or anguish such comments may have caused any party," he said, "and I look forward to greatter understanding for peace and cooperation in the future."

While Palmer has taken the diplomatic step, Lambie would not. She said Palmer had no choice but to apologize because people were still furious and disappointed by his statement on TV.

"I'm not backing down," the Tasmanian senator said on Wednesday.

"I don't see why I would offer an apology when I'm actually speaking about the Chinese communist regime and not the Chinese people," she added.

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said she hoped Lambie would follow her leader's step in giving an apology.

Furthermore, she hoped that Lambie would reflect on her comments, which could bring a potential harm on the relationship they have with their trading partner.
