The concert comes three days after the United States President Barack Obama made a formal visit to Cuba to declare an end to the last remnant of the Cold War in the South American continent.
This marks the first time the band played in Cuba where their music was once banned. This event will mark another step of the island's emergence from decades of cultural, ideological, and economic isolation.
"This show in Havana will be a milestone for us, and we hope for all our friends in Cuba too," said the official spokesperson for the band, who released the statement prior to their arrival.
From the 1960s up to 1990s, British and American Rock and Roll music was deemed by the Cuban one-party state as 'subversive.'
The music was highly discouraged to the extent that listening sessions were hidden and there was an increased rate in underground trade in smuggled records and cassettes.
Cuban rock and roll fans are excited for this major event as this will open other advancements such as the internet, improved politics, and economic status.
"A Rolling Stones concert in Havana? It's a dream," said Eddie Escobar, one of the founders of Havana's clubs for live rock music.
The concert will be held at Ciudad Deportivo and will follow a series of gigs in neighboring countries such as Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, and Mexico.
