Miley Cyrus won the Video Music Award last Sunday with the song 'Wrecking Ball'. With her was her date, a homeless man, whom she sent to accept the said award on her behalf. The said man is now issued a warrant for an arrest back in Oregon.
Cyrus has defended her friend known as Jesse Helt who is said to have been arrested back in 2010. Helt was charged with criminal mischief as well as trespassing. He was then 18 years old and is now 22.

He was issued an arrest warrant in 2011 because he violated the probation. Shortly after, he fled to Los Angeles to find work in the hopes of becoming a model. He has then been finding shelter at "My Friend's Place" in Los Angeles. This is where Cyrus reportedly met Helt.
Due to this Cyrus took it to Twitter to support Helt. She tweeted the following:
"People who are homeless have lived very hard lives. Jesse included."
"I hope that this can be the start of a national conversation about youth homelessness and how to end it."
"The media never fails to disappoint. You've chosen to go after Jesse instead of covering the issue of youth homelessness :("
"While they obsesses over one homeless mans legal issue lets help the other 1.6 million homeless youth http://www.prizeo.com/prizes/miley-cyrus/vip-concert-in-rio?utm_source=&utm_medium= ..."
Helt is said to have flown back to Oregon to visit his mother who he has not seen for more than three years now. Cyrus reportedly bought him the ticket so he can go back to his home state.
However, Martin Silbernagel, the Polk County Director of Community Corrections, announced that officials will be arresting Helt as soon as law enforcement catches up with him.
