NBA News: Jordan Hamilton Inks 10-Day Contract With New Orleans Pelicans

(Photo : gettyimages.com) Jordan Hamilton has inked a really short contract with the New Orleans Pelicans.

National Basketball Association's Developmental League All-Star forward Jordan Hamilton has signed a 10-day deal with Western Conference Southwest Division team New Orleans Pelicans.

The Tom Benson-owned team has received a hardship exemption from the league which permits the club to increase the team's roster to 17 players. The Pelicans are currently enduring an injury-plagued season that is affecting their game performance.

Hamilton is the 2011 NBA draft 26th overall pick selected by the Dallas Mavericks. The 6-foot-7 forward last played in the D-League for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers with averages of 14.9 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 14 games.

He played college basketball for the University of Texas Longhorns averaging 18.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in 36 matches he played during the 2010-2011 season.

Hamilton, after being traded by the Mavericks to the Denver Nuggets where he played for over two seasons, averaged 6.8 points and 3.4 boards per outing in his final stint with the team, who later traded him to the Houston Rockets on February 2014.

During his time with the Rockets, he produced 6.6 points and 2.9 rebounds averages per contest in 21 games he played for the team.

Hamilton also played for the Los Angeles Clippers for 14 games in the 2014-2015 season. He averaged 2.7 points and 1.1 rebounds in 8.7 minutes of playing time.

Five Pelicans players, including All-Star forward Antony Davis, have had season-ending injuries. Three others have missed recent games with injuries sidelining them day-to-day.

New Orleans currently sits at the bottom of the of teams standings in their division with 26 wins and 45 losses.

Hamilton used to play for the Idaho Stampede, Iowa Energy and Reno Bighorns in the Developmental League. He was named to the Futures All-Star team for the 2015 NBA D-League All-Star Game.
