A whole new body challenge is taking social media by storm where Chinese men and women are taking a "fitness" test to determine whether their waistlines are equal or thinner than an A4 paper.
The latest social media trend with the hashtags such as #IHAveAnA4Waist and #A4Waist is now trending on Weibo. Around 110,000 users have already posted photos on social media comparing their waist measurements to a vertically presented A4 paper, which by the way is only 8.27 inches wide.

"I'm a size smaller than A4. I'm A5," one user posted.
Some critics have, however, voiced concerns about this unhealthy, dangerous fitness trend and health goal it promotess as it sends a disturbing message about body image, which implies thin is better. Critics further say it could give women a false measurement of beauty and encourage body shaming as well as encourage eating disorders.
"So are they insinuating smaller is better?" a Twitter user wrote. "Not cool to offend the girls who don't measure up in this manner."
Yahoo Lifestyle reports that on average, waist measurements for women and men are 32.5 and 35 inches, respectively. An A4-sized paper is therefore approximately a quarter of woman's ideal waistline.
It seems that a lot of young women have become obsessed of getting perfect abs, with 'The Most Beautiful Firm Abs' ranking third as Weibo's most searched topic, according to the Daily Mail.
This is not the first crazy fitness challenge to hit China. Other include the belly button challenge, which requires people to try to touch their belly buttons from behind; the collarbone challenge, where people place and hold as many coins as possible above their collar bones; and the underboob challenge, where participants hold a pen in the fold just below their breasts.
