X-Men star Hugh Jackman channeled his inner Wolverine when he came to the rescue of several people, including his two children, who were caught in a strong and dangerous rip at Bondi Beach on Saturday afternoon.

In a video footage released by 9News, Jackman can be seen pulling his 10-year-old daughter Ava from the violent waves with the help of another rescuer. He went on to warn other swimmers to get out of the water.

Meanwhile, Jackman's 15-year-old son Oscar was dragged into the rip several times while being saved, but the actor spared no effort in pulling his kid to safety. Lifeguards also came to the rescue to quickly assist in the rescue operation.

Lynzey Murphy, one of the witnesses, shared her account of what happened during the incident.

"When we got in the water 20 minutes earlier it was fine. Then the water just came up suddenly," Murphy told Sydney's Sunday Telegraph. "Hugh just pulled them calmly on to the sandbar. He then said, 'All right, we are going to walk towards the flags.'"

Peter Adam, who was identified as the man who helped Hugh Jackman rescue his daughter Ava, said that the actor tried to remain calm despite the intense pressure of the situation.

"His daughter was struggling to get on to the sand bar so I reached down, grabbed her arm and put my arm up to Hugh to make a chain to pull us up on the sand bar," Adam said, according to 9News. "I think he was under a bit of pressure with the two kids at once but he was pretty cool, calm and collected, as Hugh always is I suppose."
