The OnePlus One is a smartphone with high specs even if it is priced at half of most high-end smartphones in the market today. It was released early in June and already considered as a game changer, showing that high-end devices can also be budget-friendly.
The OnePlus One has been popular outside of China, selling on an invitation-only basis and can't be directly purchased through a local store or carrier. The company just announced a contest that gives away 10,000 invites for those eagerly waiting to purchase the OnePlus One.

The One specs include a 5.5-inch full HD 1920 x 1080 with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 processor. The One has two variants, the 16 GB and the 64 GB models which do not have microSD support. It has 3 GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics processor. It has a 13 MP camera with dual-LED flash which can record up to 2160p at 30fps. The One can be upgraded to Android 4.4.4.
Customers who want to get the OnePlus One smartphone should not have missed the new Summer Shots contest which ended on Aug. 25. The contest mechanics were easy. The participants only had to post a photo they took in the summer and share it on Twitter or Instagram with hashtags #oneplus and #summershots. The summer shot could also be shared on the official OnePlus forum.
Customers had several options to join the contest. They could follow OnePlus on social media website such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, OnePlus YouTube channel and Google+. The Chinese smartphone maker will also give away 100 Never Settle shirts to contest participants.
OnePlus will contact the winners on Aug. 27.
