"I think it's great," the 64-year-old actress and singer said. "I'm very hopeful for her to reemerge - I've tried to keep her alive a long time."

"I think it's time. It's cool, it's very cool," she added about the comeback of "Wonder Woman," being portrayed now by Gal Gadot.

"It just adds to the charm and the legend."

When asked about the best part about having played the famed DC character from 1975 to 1979, Carter noted that it was the fact that "She was accessible."

"People either wanted to be her, or be her best friend. She lives in us," she pointed out. "There's a part of her that is the secret self, the unrecognized self that we all have."

In the meantime, Entertainment weekly reported that the highly-anticipated stand-alone film of the female superhero will tackle the transformation of Princess Diana into a warrior goddess.

As the story of the greatest female warrior unfolds, three other characters will help her reach her destination - her mother Queen Hippolyta (played by "Gladiator's" Connie Nielsen) and her two military aunts, General Antiope (Robin Wright) and Antiope's lieutenant, Menalippe ("Force Majeure's" Lisa Loven Kongsli).

"She is the only child they raised together," director Patty Jenkins dished. "And their love for her manifests in a different way for each of them."

Apart from these exciting characters, Jenkins also disclosed that their looks would be another factor that every spectator must look forward to.

"To me, they shouldn't be dressed in armor like men," the director stated. "It should be different. It should be authentic and real - and appealing to women."
