China's 3D printing market is currently being dominated by foreign companies from the U.S., the U.K. and Germany, according to a recent report called "China 3D Printing Market Analysis 2014-2015", which was published by the International Data Corporation (IDC).
The report shows that the top five 3D printing companies in terms of revenue in China include EOS (Electro Optical Systems), Stratasys, Ltd., Renishaw plc, ZRapid and Solidscape, Inc. ZRapid is obviously the only Chinese 3D printing company to make it to the top list.

The report also shows that three Chinese brands, Flashforge, Xery and Beijing Tiertime, are picking up the pace in China's desktop 3D printing market, due to their high quality and competitive prices. These local vendors have made it to the list of the top five 3D printing companies in China's desktop 3D printing market. Among them are U.S.-based brands Stratasys, Ltd. and 3D systems. Additionally, the report also reveals that three local brands (Beijing Tiertime, Flashforge and Winbo) constitute for about 50 percent of China's export market for desktop 3D printers.
Research Manager Wendy Mok of IDC's Imaging, Printing and Document Solutions research said, "China vendors who are targeting mid-level to high-end users in China and the foreign market will need to start looking at more than just hardware prices as vendors need to incorporate software and services as part of their portfolios."
"Traditionally, the competitive advantage of Chinese brands in the overseas market is their relatively low price as compared with foreign vendors. New users will always opt for cheaper hardware to test out while existing users that have gained the experience and knowledge in integrating 3D printers into their businesses will tend to opt for foreign brands." Mok added.
The IDC is expected to host a session, called "Finding Success in 3D Printing", at an upcoming event which will take place on Apr. 15 in Shenzhen, China.
