Breaking News: 1 Dead, 3 Missing in Landslide at Sichuan Province

(Photo : Getty Images) Rescuers search for victims at the landslide accident site on March 23, 2011 in Guangyuan, Sichuan Province of China. Six people were buried in a quarry landslide last night in southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to the People's Government of Guangyuan City.
A landslide in southwestern China killed one person while three others are left missing, state media reported on Sunday.
Authorities said that the landslide happened on Friday when rising water flooded a small hydropower station in Tianquan County, Sichuan Province. The eroded land blocked a part of Baimu river in Ya'an City.

Wireless signals were disconnected and nearby residential areas are experiencing blackouts.
Authorities on Saturday opened a channel to discharge the flooding water. The risk of the barrier lake has been removed on Sunday.
A search and rescue operation is underway.
