Philippine boxing pride Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao was almost attacked by an infuriated individual at the Kabuki Japanese Restaurant in Los Angeles on Sunday. The "People's Champ" was reportedly enjoying a lunch with friends and family when the attacker approached Pacquiao in an attempt to throw him a big punch.

The Philippine Star writer Abac Cordero, who happened to be with Pacquiao's group at the time of the incident, described the confrontation in detail through a series of Tweets. According to Cordero, the "white male" was controlled by the boxer's bodyguards after the attempted to land a punch. He was continuously cursing and cussing Pacquiao all throughout. Pacquiao ordered his aides, though, not to hurt the man and to "let him go."

David Sisson, personal assistant of the "Pacman," accounted how the assailant almost landed a punch to Pacquiao's face. He said the guy was so fast and that no one seemed to have been prepared for the attack. "I really thought he was going to hit Manny," Sisson stated.

In February, Pacquiao irked a considerable number of people from the LGBT community after making a statement comparing gay people with animals. Consequently, Pacquiao lost his sponsorship with Nike and has been banned from shopping at The Grove in LA.

Pacquaio is currently in the United States, training for his upcoming match against Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 19. It is the same place where the two boxers fought in 2012 and 2014. This is supposedly the last fight that the two contending champions will have.
