FX just picked up on a comedy series created by "Hangover" actor Zach Galafianakis and Emmy-award winning comedian Louis C.K. entitled "Baskets".

The half-hour series will follow the story of Chip Baskets, played by Galifianakis. Baskets dreams of becoming a professional clown, but after failing to get into a well-known clown school in Paris, he decides to join a local rodeo instead.

Eric Schrier, one of the presidents of original programming at FX, shared that the network is extremely excited about the new show, saying, "Zach Galifianakis, Louis C.K. and Jonathan Krisel have created an absolutely brilliant show. To say Zach's portrayal of the lead character Chip Baskets is hilarious/unique/riveting/fascinating would be an understatement. We can't wait for the world to meet him."

The series is the first project under FX's overall deal with Louis C.K. and his production company, Pig Newton.

The pilot of "Baskets" was written by Galifianakis, and Louis C.K., who also serve as executive producers of the show, as well as and Emmy nominee writer-director Jonathan Krisel of "Saturday Night Live" and "Man Seeking Woman" fame.

Krisel will also serve as the showrunner of the series and will direct its pilot.

"Baskets" will start production next year and will premiere in 2016.

FX is a subsidiary of Twenty-First Century Fox and has a strong comedy series line-up with shows such as "The Tracy Morgan Project", "Man Seeking Woman" and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," which recently transferred to its sister network FXX.

Before the 44-year old Galifianakis became a household name due to the comedy trilogy "The Hangover", he was making a name for himself as a stand-up comic creating memorably witty jokes like "My girlfriend looks a little like Charlize Theron...and a lot like Patrick Ewing."
