E! Online reported that the 57-year-old Esposito revealed that "He got put together a couple of weeks ago...He's one tough cookie."
"He got his bell rung," he added. "I would imagine many who witnessed thought that was it...[But] he's a survivor."
He continued by saying, "The one good thing about Dylan that I think is going to help him get back on schedule with us very soon is he has a great attitude."
While Dylan O'Brien was still in the hospital, Esposito dished that he sent him a text message, which he only got to read three days after because he was getting ready for a surgery then.
"He opens it up and he goes, 'Oh, my God, I almost broke my face laughing,'" he said about the lead star of the third film in the "Maze Runner" franchise. "I said, 'If you wanted to get out of work I have connections at the studio. I would have gotten you off for a couple of days. You didn't have to do that to yourself.'"
As what "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" director Wes Ball tweeted shortly after the accident happened, Dylan O'Brien "is one tough cookie."
