Jared Leto, who has earned a reputation of being picky when it comes to choosing a role, has finally set his sights on his next project. The Oscar-winning actor will feature in the post-WWII action thriller 'The Outsider,' directed by Martin Zandvliet.
Ken Kao will be financing and producing the project through his Waypoint Entertainment banner. Waypoint Entertainment, whose credits include 'The Nice Guys' and 'Knight of Cups' will produce along with Linson Entertainment's John Linson ('Sons of Anarchy' and Art Linson ('Heat,' 'Fight Club').

This will be Leto's first acting project after 'Suicide Squad' and his second film after 2013's 'Dallas Buyers Club,' which won him an Oscar award for Best Supporting Actor.
'The Outsider' follows the story of an American soldier held prisoner in a post-WWII Japan, who after being released with help from his Yakuza cellmate, pays back his debt by joining the dangerous Japanese crime syndicate.
The film, penned by Andrew Baldwin ('Bastille Day'), will be Zandvliet's first English-language film. The director is behing the German war drama 'Land of Mine,' which was well received at the Toronto International Film Festival last year. The feature was picked up by Sony Pictures and has already been tapped to be an awards contender.
Waypoint is currently working on Scott Cooper's 'Hostiles,' which features Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike, while John and Art Linson are busy with 'The Comedian,' starring Robert De Niro, Leslie Man and Harvey Keitel.
