A day after Amy Schumer called out Glamour magazine for featuring her in their plus size issue without her permission, Lena Dunham has spoken out against categorizing women according to their sizes.

"I think fashion should be for women and it should be for all women," Dunham told People at the The Hollywood Reporter's 35 Most Powerful People event in New York City on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old then spoke about an interview she conducted with Beth Ditto for her newsletter Lenny Letter and the Gossip singer's recently launched plus-size clothing line, which encourages women to be comfortable in their bodies.

"We did an interview recently on Lenny with Beth Ditto who just launched a line that is technically plus-sized but what she really cares about is just putting women in clothes they can feel good about because so often we've assumed women who aren't size zeros just want to put themselves in a tent," Dunham said.

Dunham sides with Schumer, saying that the comedian was only trying to express that women should not be placed in categories based on their weight or body type.

"I think Amy's entire thing is trying to sort of like break down barriers and be bold about her own opinions and what I think she was trying to do was stand up for women and say we're not supposed be categorized in this role, we're supposed to just be allowed to exist," she said.

The Girls creator grabbed headlines last month after she called out a Spanish magazine on Instagram for photoshopping her image on their cover.  Dunham apologized to the publication after they told her that the photo was purchased from an agency and was not photoshopped.
