The IKEA VR Experience is compatible with the HTC Vive virtual reality headset. Using the headset, users can explore IKEA's virtual reality kitchen and immerse themselves with fully interactive cabinets, counters and other products.

In a statement, IKEA Sweden managing director Jesper Brodin said, "Virtual reality is developing quickly and in five to ten years, it will be an integrated part of people's lives. We [believe] virtual reality will play a major role in the future of our customers."

Brodin added that IKEA has a long term plan for its virtual reality app. In the future, users would be able test out products before purchasing them.

The app can be downloaded for free via the Steam digital distribution platform.

The IKEA Virtual Kitchen puts users in a kitchen. Users can open drawers to check the utensils stored inside it. Users can even check the wall-sized message board. Since the rendered virtual reality environment is fully interactive, users can change the color of cabinets and drawers.

The app also allow users to adjust their height in order to change their viewing perspective. They can change it to see from the perspective of a small child or a very tall person. IKEA said that they are three virtual kitchens that users can explore in the app.
