The upcoming "Fast and Furious 8" plot is expected to thicken as the present characters are bound to face their "greatest adversary" in the person of Charlize Theron.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 40-year-old actress is set to portray as a villain while adding more excitement to the roles of lead stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson.

It was in a post by the film's official Facebook page that the former "Mad Max: Fury Road" star's entry was first hinted.

"Our crew will face its greatest adversary ever in our next film as we welcome Charlize Theron to the Fast family," the announcement read.

In the meantime, the "Fast and Furious 8" will have F. Gary Gray of "Straight Outta Compton" as its director, reported E! Online.

"I could not have asked for better partners than Vin Diesel, Neal H. Moritz, & the Universal Studios Entertainment family," he wrote on Facebook. "Together we are excited to bring you the next chapter in the Fast & Furious saga. ‪#‎FastFamily."

Back in September, Rodriguez told the entertainment site that they need "a good reason" to still go on with the film, including "Fast and Furious 8," despite the loss of former star Paul Walker.

"We need a good reason to move on after Paul [Walker]," the actress said. "And being that this is a global franchise now, it's not just the American baby, it's important that we consider moving on and take it seriously."

"Fast and Furious 8" will hit the theatres on April 14, 2017.
