Last season's China top flight runners-up Shanghai SIPG FC (0-1-2, 2 points) will be looking to earn its first win of the 2016 Chinese Super League season as it faces tough team Liaoning Whowin FC (1-1-1, 4 points) at the Shanghai Stadium on Sunday, April 10th.

The Red Eagles had been winless in their first three games of the season, losing to Henan Jianye during their season opener then settling for two straight draws against Shanghai Shenhua and Chongqing Lifan in their last two games.

In their most recent game, SIPG finished with a 1-1 draw versus Chongqing Lifan at the Chongqing Olympic Sports Center last Saturday, as reported by Super Sport.

Head coach Sven-Göran Eriksson's boys were not able to pour out the goals and take advantage of Chongqing's 10-man status for the whole 87 minutes as one of the hosts' defenders, Luo Xin, was sent off at the third minute of the match.

It seemed that Shanghai will get the win after local striker Wu Lei netted the opening goal at the half-hour mark of the game off an assist by teammate Yu Hai, but Lifan managed to equalize it with nine minutes remaining in the contest courtesy of a strike from Brazilian forward Fernandinho.

Meanwhile, Liaoning Whowin is also coming off a 1-1 draw, this time with unbeaten side Henan Jianye, at their home field of Shenyang Olympic Sports Center Stadium also last Saturday, as per Soccerway.

Henan's Brazilian import Ivo scored the first goal of the match right at the eighth minute to give the visitors the early lead, but the Northeast Tigers immediately leveled the count at the 23rd courtesy of a goal by Congolese defender Assani Lukimya.

The predicted result is a close 1-0 win for Shanghai SIPG to snatch their first victory of the young season.
