Indonesian pop-star Irma Bule passed away in a bizarre incident earlier this week after she was bitten by a King Cobra in the middle of a performance.

The 29-year-old was doing a show in the Indonesian regency of Karawang, West Java, on Monday, April 4, when she stepped on the snake's tail, provoking the deadly reptile to sink its fangs into the singer's thigh, resulting in her death.

"The accident happened in the middle of the second song when Irma stepped on the snake's tail," an eyewitness told a local news outlet. "The snake then bit Irma on the thigh."

Bule, known to perform with snakes as on-stage props, was attended by a nearby snake-handler, who attempted to inject the pop star with an anti-venom, but she refused and went on with the show.

She started throwing up 45 minutes later and started having seizures before collapsing in front of a shocked audience. She was later rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Bule was under the impression that the cobra's fangs had been removed and was venom-free before she stepped on stage with the snake.

During her shows, Bule usually uses a python, which is a non-venomous snake species, but the event organizers gave her a cobra this time, according to her mother.

"My daughter might not have known that the snake that was given to her for the show was a dangerous cobra," she said. "She was told she could wear it, even though its mouth was not closed with duct tape."

The King Cobra is known to be one of the deadliest snakes in the world and has the ability to kill 20 people or an elephant with a single bite.

The police are investigating the incident.
