Atlantic Canada auditions have started accepting applications. Anyone interested must be able to sport the characteristic of his or her voice and able to sing in Mandarin, Cantonese, or English. There were reportedly 60 hopeful candidates who threw their best shots.
According to Jinbo Chen, organizer of the Atlantic Canadian 2016 Super China Vocal, people could hardly believe it at first.
"They're really excited," Chen said.
"I would say that's the most popular show in China for singing related to singing competitions... that's the most famous one right now," Chen added.
Registration for aspiring participants is available online. Auditions at Nova Scotia are open on April 2, 3, 9 and 10 at Fantasie Music, 5512 Spring Garden Road in Halifax.
Of the participants, 15 lucky ones will be chosen to compete for the Atlantic Canada Finals at the Rebecca Cohn Theatre (Dalhousie Art Centre) on May 13.
The top three finalists will represent Atlantic Canada and compete with 12 other contestants from other Canadian cities in Vancouver on May 29.
The nationwide winner will fly back to China and represent Canada for the 2016 Super China Vocal TV show and will be directly facing the four coaches. Meanwhile, the second and third placers will need to face off with other Chinese contestants to secure a spot.
