The manufacturers allegedly spray-painted the engine's idle gears lids, which could result in screw bolts fractures, idle gears and engines separation, state news agency Xinhua reported.

At the same time, BMW China Automotive Trading Ltd. has released an official statement that it will recall imported BMW 7 series models due to faulty air bags from May 25.

The recall will affect more than 3,000 units sold in China and manufactured from June 24, 2015 to December 11, 2015, the GAQSIQ revealed.

A sheet metal found in the control unit of the air bag may allegedly cause the unit to restart, and this could result in air bag malfunctioning during collisions.

The company has revealed that it will replace all the defective parts at no additional cost.

Just last month, the German auto giant recalled more than 6,000 luxury cars from because of faulty fuel pumps that resulted om engine failure while driving.

Vehicles affected were those manufactured between June 12 and November 19 last year. Replacement of the faulty parts will still be shouldered by the company.

Meanwhile, the German car producer has seen more than 316,000 units sold worldwide in the first two months this year, up 7.7 percent year on year. In China, sales also soared nearly 13 percent to more than 80,000 units sold in the same period.

Ian Robertson, who is responsible for BMW's sales and marketing, is positive that the company "will continue to achieve steady sales growth as the year progresses."
