Reddit Finally Unveils Official App for Android and iOS Devices

Reddit has launched its official mobile app for both iOS and Android devices, replacing the replace Alien Blue, the most popular unofficial Reddit app which the company acquired in 2014.

The new app offers some exciting features like ‘card view’ that aims to present multi-media content in a better manner. It also let the network to launch platform specific features such as a ‘speed-read’ button for its iOS app.

“We learned a lot from our passionate Alien Blue community about what makes a great iOS app and we applied those learnings when building Reddit for iOS. Due to limited resources, we decided to focus our efforts on making Reddit for iOS our primary and official Reddit client,” said Alex Le, Vice President of Consumer Product at Reddit.

The app will provide an enhanced inbox, to make it relatively easier for the users to read and supply comments under the thread. Reddit users can now instantly share photographs, articles, and ideas with myriads and myriads of people all across the world. In addition, users now have the opportunity to filter and search for active communities with respect to their preferences. Reddit’s engineering team is already considering over at unveiling an update per month.

However, Windows devices users will not see any Reddit app for them. Windows Phone users will have to continue using the site or third party apps. It seems that Reddit team has no plan to bring their app to Windows.

Reddit’S iOS and Android app is now available on Google Play Store and iTunes App Store from United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. It will be extended to other countries over the next few months.
