ZTE is the world's fourth-largest mobile phone manufacturer measured by 2012 unit sales, and the world's fifth-largest telecoms equipment maker measured by 2012 revenues, only after Ericsson, Huawei, Samsung, and Nokia Siemens Networks. ZTE's core products are wireless, exchange, access, optical transmission and data telecommunications gear, mobile phones and telecommunications software. It also offers products that provide value-added services, such as video on demand and streaming media.
ZTE Corporation claims that China accounts for 47% of its total revenue; Europe, America and Australia account for 24.7%; and Asia (excluding China) accounts for 19% of ZTE's total revenue.
Last weekend, in a press conference in Nigeria's largest city Lagos, ZTE said the Chinese firm has completed the $417 million project, which was signed with Nigerian National Public Security Communications System in 2010. The contract includes five parts: Global Trunking Architecture Subsystem (GoTa); Video Surveillance Subsystem (VSS); E-Police Subsystem across the whole states and FCT; Video Conferencing Subsystem (VCS) and Coalition Emergency Response Subsystem (CERS). The project started in 2011, and was finished in 2012.
So far, ZTE Corporation has delivered 696 GoTa websites, 2000 digital cameras; 37 switch rooms; 37 coalition emergency response subsystems and 38 video conferencing subsystems in Nigeria. It is worth mentioning that the application of National Public Security Communications Systems helped the Nigeria Police Force to arrest a suspect on May 21st, 2012 at the capital city of Nigeria.
ZTE started selling its terminals in Nigeria since 2002. Every year, the sales amount of ZTE Corporation's terminal devices could reach $50 million for all the Nigerian telecom operators.
