Chinese smartphone maker OPPO has announced that it will launch its latest device called the R9 smartphone in Taiwan. The R9 selfie smartphone will retail at a price of NT$14,990 (US $460) in Taiwan starting May 1.

The smartphone was launched in China in March and has received several good feedbacks from tech enthusiast because of its powerful specification. The OPPO R9 smartphone is very handy and sleek in design since it only measures a dimension of 151.8 (H) by 74.3 (H) by 6.6 (D) mm, and a weight of 145g.

In terms of the specification of the device, the OPPO R9 smartphone is equipped with 5.5-inch 1,920 x 1,080 pixel AMOLED display panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The device is powered by MediaTek's MTK6755 2.0GHz 8-core processor paired with 4GB RAM on board. It comes with a built-in 64GB internal memory storage, which can be further be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card.

On the camera front, the handset sports a powered 16-megapixel front selfie camera and a 13-megapixel main camera. The cameras of the device support a 1/2.8" sensor sizes, touch focus, geo-tagging, panorama, face detection, HDR. What makes the device more interesting is that it is capable of taking videos up to 2160p@30fps and 1080p@30fps.

The OPPO R9 smartphone is equipped with the company's very own quick charging technology. According to OPP,O a 5-minute charging can last up to 2-hours for voice communications. The device is fueled by a very impressive non-removable Li-Po 4120 mAh capacity battery inside.

Other features the device offers include GSM / CDMA / HSPA / EVDO / LTE Connectivity support, Fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass sensors. The device will be available in Gold color option.
