A computer model made the US. Geological Survey (USGS) showed what will happen if volcanic super eruption ever happened in Yellowstone National Park.
The computer model Ash3D reenacted of the effect of the unlikely eruption using the umbrella, a kind of ash cloud that expands in even directions.

Researcher said that a super eruption is the largest kind of volcanic eruption which can eject 240 cubic miles of material.
According to researchers, the super eruption can shut down electronic communication, alter climate and air travel problems.
To come up with this findings, researchers incorporated Ash3D with the data of wind patterns from a Yellowstone eruption that occurred 640,000 years ago.
Researchers found out that if a super eruption might ever occur in Yellowstone cities closed to the area will be covered with ash.
They said that there will be a blanket with meters of ash in the northern Rocky Mountains, while, New York, Los Angeles and Miami will have millimeters of ash.
Scientists believe that the results from Ash3D could help them understand the range of disruption that occurred during the previous eruption of Yellowstone.
Other scientists have been using the computer model to forecast possible hazards of the restless volcanoes in Alaska.
Larry Mastin, a geologist from USCS said that the eruption has its own winds that can overcome the prevailing westerlies which dominates weather patterns in the US.
He explained that this finding help explain the distribution that occurred on past Yellowstone eruption that reached the west coast.
Through Ash3D, researchers found out that the ash cloud expansion rate exceeded to an average ambient wind speed for hours and days depending on duration of the eruption.
They explained that an outward expansion can cause ash to spread more than 1,500 kilometers upwind, westward and crosswind.
