Google is introducing a new service that will personalize cases for Nexus smartphones.
With just $35, Nexus users will have a customize case that can actually interact with their mobile devices. These cases are called Live Cases. They're available for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, and Nexus 6P. The cases use NFC to transmit their wallpapers and make their add-on button work.

There are two variations of Live Cases. One is allowing the users to choose any photo and print it onto their case. The second one will let the users design and print a stylized map with the help of Google Maps. Both variations allow the users to decide on a couple of filters and other styling options to personalize their case even more. The Nexus Live Cases are simple and sweet. They are made of a polycarbonate shell, with any design that user wanted to be on the print.
"Our design studio on the Google Store allows you to personalise your phone case with either your favourite photo or a special place on Google Maps. Then, with dozens of filters, you can make your design fit your style - be it vibrant and bright or polished and chic. Along with your signature case, you get a live wallpaper to bring your design to life on your home screen,” said Kari Clark, Senior Manager, Live Cases, in a blog post at Google Store.
In addition, Google added a shortcut button at the back, which can be customized to do things like launching the camera or activating live wallpaper.
Users can also download the Live Case app to turn the home screen into a personal slideshow of photos or to extend the Maps design to the screen. For Places Live Cases, users can choose to offer live wallpapers of a map showing users whereabouts as they go.
This is not the first time that Google launched a custom Live Cases for its Nexus devices. In 2015, the search engine giant offered limited-edition smartphone cases called Enter Editions with Grammy-winning producer, Skrillex. The limited-edition cases were designed for select Nexus and Samsung Android smartphones.
