There is still no information on whether 'Castle' Season 8 will be renewed or cancelled. However, the show's co-showrunner is hopeful that the series will still be on air amid reports claiming that it would be back for one last season.

Terence Paul Winter shared in an interview with TV Line that they have an ending which will provide a major cliffhanger.

"We have one ending, a cliffhanger that we're excited about, because we believe in Castle and we believe that ABC will hopefully, hopefully bring us back," he said.

His statement gives credence to an earlier report which said that the show's producers have prepared multiple endings. One will reportedly serve as season finale, while the other is the series finale.

There have been rumors about 'Castle' Season 8 being renewed or cancelled since ABC's renewal announcement omitted the show. The series is being headlined by Nathan Fillion as the debonair writer Richard Castle and Stana Katic as his beautiful muse Kate Beckett.

According to Deadline reported that there is a possibility for the show to be renewed for what would be its last season. There is also a probability that it would contain lesser episodes.

"Their future is still in limbo but the feeling is that both will castle-season8-premierebe brought back for one - possibly last and possibly shorter-run seasons," it said. "I hear talks are still underway with Castle star Nathan Fillion who needs to sign a new deal but there are hopeful signs that the venerable series, now in Season 8, will get a final chapter."

As talks about whether 'Castle' Season 8 will be renewed or cancelled continues, it was revealed that 'Firefly' star Jewel Staite will be featured in the May 2 episode of the show. She will play a Broadway director whose lead star is killed.
