Melbourne nipped Shanghai during their first meeting in the group stage of the said tourney last Feb. 24th. The match was held at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium in Australia and ended with a 2-1 count in favor of Victory and so the Red Eagles are looking for redemption in this second clash on Tuesday.

SIPG is coming off a 2-0 blanking of last season's J1 League runners-up Gamba Osaka at the Suita City Football Stadium in Osaka, Japan during the previous matchday on April 6th, as reported by ESPN.

The match went goalless in its first two-thirds of play until attacking midfielder Wu Lei netted the opening goal at the 66th minute off an assist by left winger Lu Wenjun. It was Lu's turn to score at the 72nd with a brilliant solo move to double the lead for head coach Sven-Göran Eriksson's side.

The hosts were not able to respond with any goal as they dropped to the last spot in the group table with only two points to boot in their four matches.

Meanwhile, Melbourne settled for a third consecutive drawn match after winning their opening game against Shanghai as they ended up in a 1-1 deadlock with last season's K League Classic runners-up Suwon Samsung Bluewings at the Suwon World Cup Stadium in South Korea also on April 6th, as per Box Score.

Bluewings midfielder Kwon Chang-hoon scored the opening goal at the 58th while Victory striker Kosta Barbarouses netted the equalizer just two minutes later as the two teams had a point each in the standings.

The predicted result is a close 1-0 payback win for Shanghai SIPG.
