(Photo : Alex Wong/Getty Images) DJI, maker of drones such as the one pictured above, has introduced its most powerful drone to date, the Matrice 600 (not pictured).
After making its drones available for agricultural use in China, drone maker DJI has now introduced its most powerful drone which can lift a heavy load into the sky.
DJI’s new Matrice 600 drone can haul a 13-pound load into the sky. The new M600 can do this thanks to six rotors that are individually powered by an actively cooled motor.

Housing DJI’s new A3 Flight Controller, the M600 can fly accurately and efficiently. Combined with its self-adaptive flight mechanisms, the M600 can fly safely while adjusting its flight parameters based on the load attached to it. Thanks to these flight mechanisms, the drone can quickly adapt to different situations, whether it’s carrying DJI’s Zenmuse cameras or the new Ronin MX handheld. The M600 also has retractable legs that allow for fully unobstructed in-flight video recording.
DJI claims that the new A3 controller can be upgraded to the A3 PRO system, which uses a combination of advanced algorithms and data from Global Navigation Satellite System units.
The new drone is powered by six of DJI’s smart batteries, all of which can be individually turned on and off to help keep the drone in flight even if one of the batteries fail while in mid-air. The batteries allow the M600 to fly up in the air for up to 36 minutes with a Zenmuse X5 camera and up to 16 minutes with a huge camera such as the RED EPIC.
The M600 also works with the DJI GO app, which helps users see real-time flight data as well as live video feed so that they can keep track of the flight at all times. The DJI GO app also allows for access to aperture, shutter speed, and photo and video capture using a Zenmuse X-series camera, notes PC Magazine.
DJI’s new Matrice 600 drone costs $4,599 and comes complete with the A3 flight controller with Lightbridge 2 and a full set of batteries.
