Chyna: WWE Superstar Found Dead At 45

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar Chyna, whose real name was Joanie Laurer, was found dead in her California home on Wednesday. She was 45.

Laurer's official Twitter handle confirmed the WWE legend's death via a statement that read as follows: "It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joanie Laurer, AKA Chyna, the 9th Wonder of the World has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her."

The cause of death has not yet been determined but Laurer's manager said that she was taking medication for anxiety and sleep deprivation. TMZ also reported that police are investigating the death as a possible overdose, taking into account her history with substance abuse.

Laurer performed under the name Chyna during her time as a wrestler and was also a part of the famous wrestling team D-Generation X, along with Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

Billed as the "Ninth Wonder of the World," she also made history by becoming the first female to win a WWF Intercontinental Championship title in 1999, a title she won for the second time in the following year.

She parted ways with WWE in 2001 and featured on several reality shows, including The Surreal Life, My Fair Brady and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew on VH1.

Laurer alse featured in a sex tape with ex-boyfriend Sex Waltman titled 1 Night in China, after which she starred in five more adult films.

WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon took to Twitter to pay tribute to the wrestling legend. "She was truly a pioneer in our industry and she will be missed #RIPChyna," McMahon wrote.
