Catholic-born actress Lindsay Lohan is reportedly planning to convert to Islam.

 A year ago, the Mean Girls actress was snapped by paparazzi carrying the holy Quran, which is the central religious text of Islam, sparking rumors that she was in the midst of a spiritual journey.

The 29-year-old has now addressed the rumors and opened up about her religious beliefs in an interview with British tabloid The Sun.

"I'm a very spiritual person and I'm really open to learning," she said about studying Islam. "America has portrayed holding a Koran in such a different way to what it actually is."

 "We all believe in something and at the end of the day it all ties to a god or a spiritual adviser," she said before adding how her sister, Ali Lohan, is still open to the idea of learning new things from her even though she follows Buddhism.

Even though Lohan has been studying the Quran for quite some time now, she has still not managed to finish reading the religious text. "Do you know how long that would take?" she said. "It takes so long."

Lohan, who reportedly got engaged to Russian business heir Egor Tarabasov recently, also revealed that she turns to meditation when she feels the need to calm herself down and the practice helps her be more conscious and aware of what's going on around her.

"I can hear every conversation in a room," she said. "I hear everything and I notice everything so I have to teach myself to shut my brain off."

Lohan's rep issued a statement to Page Six saying that the actress "has always been very spiritual and is open to exploring all religions and beliefs. She is simply educating herself on other peoples beliefs."
