China Box Office: 'Jungle Book' Continues to Dominate, Beats 'Huntsman' Sequel, 'Sassy Girl' to Hold Top Spot

In spite of a number of new releases, the live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's classic tale continued to dominate the weekend box-office, raking in nearly $30 million in its second week in theaters and adding to its total of $99.5 million after 20 days. New release The Huntsman: Winter's War came in third place with an opening of $10.3 million.

Disney has had a successful year in China, where its product, Zootopia, became the highest-grossing animated film ever with a collection of $235.4 million to date. Disney's Star Wars: The Force Awakens also grossed $125.4 million in January.

Yao Ting Ting's Yesterday Once More followed The Jungle Book in second place and ended the weekend with a collection of $14.7 million after a three-day run.

My New Sassy Girl, the sequel to the 2001 Korean rom-com My Sassy Girl, bombed at the box-office, raking in only $3.81 million since opening in theaters three days ago. Peter Tsi's Buddy Cops was also a disappointment and managed to bring only $2.07 in its opening weekend.

Holdover London Has Fallen saw a collection of $1.45 million in its third weekend in theaters, taking its total tally to $50.9 million in China.

Japanese drama Flying Colors came in at No. 7 with $630,000, followed by the Chinese romantic film Insomnia Lover with $300,000 and Yang Qing's Chongqing Hot Pot, which raked in $260,000 to take its cumulative numbers to $56.9 million after 24 days.

Chinese animated film Ma Xiaole And His Toys came in tenth place, earning $200,000 from previews a week before its actual release in theaters.
