Comedienne and TV personality Joan Rivers was placed on life support this Saturday as her family and friends persistently said their prayers at the Mount Sinai Hospital.
The 81-year-old host was initially put into a medically induced coma after suffering cardiac and respiratory arrest last Thursday. Now, she has become dependent on the life support machines to keep her alive, as reported by TMZ.

According to sources for the New York Daily News, Rivers' daughter Melissa has been "in denial" when it comes to her mother's condition.
"She still thinks everything is going to be OK. She is refusing to admit that a world might exist without her mother in it," said the insider close to the Rivers family.
The source also added: "Others that are close to Joan are starting to realize that the outcome they want is very unlikely."
There have been no major decisions to be made regarding Rivers' future for the next few days. Her daughter and the hospital have not released any comments on the actress' condition.
Multiple sources have also claimed that the 81-year-old TV host would want to live a "full and active life" and would not prefer to be "a burden on anyone."
The comedienne's 13-year-old grandson Cooper and her daughter's ex-partner John Endicott were seen leaving the hospital last Saturday morning and going back to Melissa's apartment in the East Side.
Rivers had been taken to Mount Sinai Hospital after she stopped breathing during a vocal cord procedure last Thursday.
No specific details have been disclosed as to how long the comedienne was without oxygen. Doctors then placed her in a coma within hours to look into her health condition. Melissa also took part in discussing the treatment options, making the final decision to place Rivers on life support.
Melissa has not made any comments to the public since Saturday, after she stated that her mother was "resting comfortably" in a New York hospital.
"As independent as she likes to think she is, Joan is the center of Melissa's life," the insider said. "They even live in the same building in (New York) and work together on 'Fashion Police' ... It's all heartbreaking."
