After the German car maker's recent launch of 718 Boxster this year, Porsche unveiled its mechanically identical sibling, the 718 Cayman, at the Beijing Auto Show. 

The revamped two-seat coupe now comes with a fresh style, turbocharged engines, and a pricetag more affordable than the 718 Boxster.

Although some said there is not much to expect with the 718 Cayman's design as it is only an upgrade of the second-generation Cayman launched in 2014, there are still significant changes that make it also look like an all-new car, Motor Authority reported.

The report further revealed that the 2017 718 Cayman in base trim is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-4 making 300 horsepower (HP) and 280 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the sportier 718 Cayman comes with a turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-4 and 350 HP and 309 lb-ft. Moreover, both cars are capable to make 25 more HP that their respective forerunner.

Boasting of an optional 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and Sport Chrono Package, 718 Cayman claims to reach 60 mph from standstill in merely 4.5 seconds with a top speed at 170 mph, while 718 Cayman S boasts respective figures of 4.0 seconds and 177 mph.

The Sport Chrono also offers different mode switch on the car's 918 Spyder-style steering, namely, Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual modes, Top Gear revealed.

Subtle changes on the cars' chassis were also made including the installation of firmer springs, retuned dampers, thicker anti roll bars, a half-an-inch bigger rear tires, and more direct steering that is now 10 percent quicker, according to Wards Auto.

Surprisingly, the Cayman's pricetag is way lower than that of its convertible counterparts, the Top Gear reported. Prices for 718 Cayman start at 375,000 yuan ($57,700), while 718 Cayman S at nearly 460,000 yuan ($71,000).
