Twitter has announced that the new process of reporting abusive accounts and tweets will be easier and effective.
The microblogging site will now let the users identify abusive accounts by adding the ability to attach multiple tweets to a single report. The update comes after Twitter formed a Trust & Safety Council in February, which will ensure that people feel safe expressing themselves in 140 characters. Twitter has struggled to fight against abuse on the platform, as trolls hide behind anonymous accounts to hurl insults and threats, especially to women.

“This update makes it easier for you to provide us with more information about the extent of abuse and reduces the time it takes to do so. That added context often helps us investigate issues and get them resolved faster,” wrote Twitter engineer Hao Tang in a blog post.
In 2015, Twitter also introduced a new Safety page after rolling out new harassment reporting and blocking tools in December of 2014. Tang also assured that there will be more changes and improvements on the site. The current update is more substantive, but it remains to be seen whether more thorough reporting leads to action.
Compared to muting and blocking, reporting could be an effective way to combat abusive behavior rather than merely tune it out. The popular social media site said that it will investigate reports to discern an appropriate response. The attached multiple tweets will help them to know more information and offers a better look at the situation. This is a way of Twitter to let people fight back against bullying and harassment.
