Social networking giant Facebook is working on a standalone camera application to encourage its 1.6 billion users to share more videos and photos.

According to the Wall Street Journal, sources say that work to add the new app is in its nascent stage.

People familiar with the matter claim that the camera app is aimed at motivating users to create photos and videos. The camera app is intended to spur the creation of content, which will be shared on Facebook.
