Singer Ashlee Simpson tied the knot with Diana Ross' son, Evan Ross, last Sunday in a private ceremony at the Greenwich, Connecticut mansion owned by the groom's singer-mom.

The newlyweds were engaged in January, only after dating for six months, but the two have been friends for quite a while and, feelings also took a while to develop.

"Evan and Ashlee have been friends for a really long time, probably ten years. They know each other from the club scene and have tons of mutual friends " a source shared.

Diana Ross herself was said to have helped the couple plan the wedding. Evan shared of his mother, "She's involved in all levels of my life. She's one of the most incredible mothers ever. She's involved in every piece of our wedding!" 

Jessica Simpson, Ashlee's newlywed sister, was the matron of honor. Jessica's children with husband Eric Johnson, 2-year old Maxwell and 14-month old Ace served as flower girl and ring bearer respectively.

Ashlee's five-year old son with former Pete Wentz, Bronx Mowgli, walked Ashlee down the aisle.

Joe Simpson, the bride's father, tweeted about the nuptials hours before it started, posting "Today my little girl gets married. Congrats Ashlee and Evan."

Reportedly, Ashlee wore a white wedding dress donned with pearls and ruby jewelry worth $750,000.

This is Evan Ross' first marriage and Ashlee Simpson's second. 

Simpson was married to Fall Out Boy member Pete Wentz from 2008 to 2011.

Wentz also had cause to celebrate recently. His girlfriend, Meagan Camper, recently gave birth to their first child together - a baby boy they named Saint Lazslo.

Asked if Simpson and Ross also planned on having more children, Ross shared that it was up to Ashlee - but since he grew up with 10 siblings, he wants to have his own kids with Simpson.
