After playing the role of President George W. Bush on a host of other comedy sketches and onstage, Will Ferrell will now portray the character of another former U.S. president; Ronald Reagan, in an upcoming comedy.

Ferrell will be a part of the project not only as an actor, but also in a producer's capacity under his Gary Sanchez Productions banner. The film, titled Reagan, is based on a Black List script penned by Mike Rosolio and does not have a director yet.

The film follows the story of the 40th president of the United States during the start of his second term, when he starts suffering from dementia, at which point an intern is given the responsibility to convince the commander-in-chief that he is an actor, who is playing the role of the president in a movie.

The script became quite popular after it was announced on the Black List, which is an annual catalog of scripts that have not yet been produced in Hollywood.

The Black List also conducted a live reading of the script last month with James Brolin as Reagan and John Cho as the intern among other stars including Lena Dunham and Nathan Fillion.

This isn't the first time Ferrell will be part of a political comedy. The 48-year-old has previously starred in Dick (1999) and The Campaign (2012) opposite Zach Galifianakis. The Daddy's Home star has also played the role of President Bush a number of times on Saturday Night Live and the Broadway production You're Welcome America.
