54-year old celebrity chef Todd English was charged with driving while intoxicated on County Road 39 at Saint Andrews Road in Southampton, Southampton Town, Long.

English was arrested at around 3:30 am last Sunday. His lawyer, Eddie Burke, Jr., "adamantly" denied the charges.

The celebrity chef posted $1,500 bail.

"We look forward to addressing this matter in a court of law," Burke stated.

English owns a number of highly-acclaimed restaurants across the United States, including Olives, Figs and Fish Club. He is also a television personality, appearing on popular food-related shows such as Iron Chef America.

He is also the lead chef for Delta Airlines.

The chef is also an author of several cookbooks including "The Olives Table" and "Cooking in Everyday English" and, has had the honor of being given James Beard Foundation for excellence and achievement in cuisine award.

English was also nominated for an Emmy award for his PBS travel series, "Food Trip With Todd English".

The celebrity chef was inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame in December 2012.

His love for the craft of cooking is obvious, with English once saying, "I liked the energy of cooking, the action, the camaraderie. I often compare the kitchen to sports and compare the chef to a coach. There are a lot of similarities to it." 

But despite his successful career, English has had to face some personal issues publicly.

He was previously married to Olivia Disch English whom he met at the Culinary Institute of America. The former couple divorced. They have three children together.

In 2009, his former fiancé, Erica Wang, was charged with assault, after she hit English with a metal wristwatch. English had to get multiple stitches due to his injury. After the incident, English called off their wedding.

After his former girlfriend agreed to anger management and community service, the case was closed without prison or probation in 2010.
