(Photo : Getty Images.) Iron Maiden is the latest band to alter their live performance show in China.
Abiding by China's strict rules over live performances, popular rock band Iron Maiden had to make some serious changes in their live performance shows that were held in Beijing and Shanghai.
Iron maiden singers were not allowed to swear on the stage and had to change lyrics of the song Powerplay. They were also not allowed to use their trademark pyrotechnics such as flames and smoke-bombs. Group member Dickinson was barred from waving the UK flag.

Media reports claim that Chinese authorities had reservations over Iron Maiden playing hit songs The Number of the Beast and Hallowed Be thy Name during the tour. However, they eventually permitted the band to play these songs.
Iron maiden had performed in Beijing on April 24 and in Shanghai on April 26 as part of their Book of Souls World Tour - 2016.
Iron maiden joined slew of popular music bands and artists who had to similarly enforce several changes in order to satisfy Chinese authorities. The iconic rock band The Rolling Stones had to exclude two songs during their live performances in China following a decree from Chinese authorities.
Every musical band or artist, before staging their show, have to submit details of their performance including the lyrics of every song to Chinese officials. If any part of the performance and lyrics is found to be high on vulgarity and political theme, then Chinese authorities clamp down on it.
Despite the censorship issues, famous bands and artists regularly visit China as they are lured by the lucrative Chinese market.
