Jerry Bowman, son of late Caddo Commissioner Joyce Bowman, has revealed his plan to run for Shreveport City Council and marks November 2014 as one of the many elections in U.S. history in which political dynasties vie for American votes.
Coming from a politically entrenched family, Bowman plans to continue what his mother started in the city and make sure to represent the residents of District G.

Although he grew up in District G, Bowman said his decision to run for City Council was not easy, but he knew that now is his time to serve the public.
In a statement released by Jerry Bowman, he said he will be filing for his candidacy next week and is excited to start with his campaign.
At present, there are three other candidates who expressed their desire to run for public office and serve the Shreveport City Council. Sam Jenkins, the incumbent councilman, have announced on Friday that he will be running in the city's Mayoral race.
Bowman's younger brother, Jerald, on the other hand, is currently serving as Caddo Commissioner to complete the remaining term of their mother following her death in 2013.
According to the older Bowman, his brother has always shown his interest in politics.
"Since Jerald was six, he had it in his mind to run for president," Jerry Bowman said.
The City Council candidate said that while growing up, their parents have instilled in them the values of helping people, even those they did not know.
The Bowman brothers said having a politically inclined mother and a community activist father greatly influenced their decisions.
Meanwhile, the Bowman's are not the only family who is showing political inclination.
In Plain Dealing, the Hamiters' have been making headlines as divorced couple Robert Hamiter and Charlotte Giles Hamiter are both running as alderman in the First District of the Louisiana town, while his current wife is lobbying for justice of the peace.
